ISO Standards and Certifications
AS/NZS 5377 is a standard developed by the Joint Technical Committee on E-waste Recycling in Australia and New Zealand. The standard provides guidelines for the safe and effective management of electronic waste (e-waste) throughout its entire life cycle, from production to disposal. The standard aims to reduce the environmental impact of e-waste by promoting reuse, recycling, and safe disposal practices.

AS/NZS 5377 specifies the following requirements for the management of e-waste:
- Product Design: The standard recommends that manufacturers design their products to minimize waste and facilitate disassembly and recycling.
- Collection: The standard recommends that e-waste be collected separately from other waste streams to ensure that it can be properly managed.
- Sorting: E-waste should be sorted into different categories to facilitate recycling and safe disposal.
- Treatment: The standard recommends that e-waste be treated in a manner that maximizes resource recovery and minimizes the environmental impact.
- Recycling: E-waste should be recycled in accordance with applicable regulations and standards. The standard recommends that recycling processes should be designed to maximize resource recovery and minimize the environmental impact.
- Disposal: E-waste that cannot be recycled should be disposed of in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The standard recommends that disposal should be in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Reporting: The standard recommends that organizations involved in the management of e-waste should report on their e-waste management activities and the environmental impact of their operations.
